Fort Plain receives grants for fitness center
and lighting upgrades
Fort Plain receives $50,000 grant for
The New York State Power Authority recently
awarded the Fort Plain Central School district a $50,000 grant for
lighting upgrades around the district that will reduce power
consumption. The Board of Education accepted the grant at its
regular meeting on Dec. 11.
The grant will go toward the following:
• Seven light fixture replacements at Harry Hoag Elementary;
• Light fixture replacements in the Jr./Sr. High School gym;
• New LED lights in the Jr./Sr. High School parking lot; and
• Upgrades to classroom lighting at Harry Hoag Elementary.
District leaders said the project will be
completed either this year or during the summer.
Fort Plain receives $500 Blue Shield
grant for fitness center
The Fort Plain Central School District Board
of Education accepted a $500 grant from BlueShield of Northeastern
New York during its regular meeting on Dec. 11 that will go toward
the district’s fitness center.
The fitness center at the Jr. /Sr. High School
is open from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on school days. Membership is $20 a
month for all residents. The fitness center was opened as part of
the district’s recent capital project and features circuit training
equipment, free weights, cardiovascular equipment and training.
