Welcome Jennifer Schwabrow

New special education director in placeJennifer Schwabrow

The boards of education in Fort Plain and Canajoharie have named Jennifer Schwabrow as the new director of special education for both districts.

A Canajoharie special education teacher for the past nine years, Schwabrow replaces the two districts’ former shared director of special education, Theodore Arndt, who left the position at the end of the 2014-15 school year to return to classroom teaching.

“The shared special education director has been a productive endeavor for both districts and we are pleased to continue the relationship with Canajoharie.,” Fort Plain Superintendent David Ziskin said.

“We’ve had a successful partnership with Fort Plain sharing the services of a special education director in the past and we look forward to continuing that relationship into the future,” said Deborah Grimshaw, Canajoharie Superintendent.

Schwabrow earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary special education from the State University of New York at Geneseo and a master’s degree in literacy from SUNY Albany. She earned her administrator’s certification from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Prior to teaching in Canajoharie, she taught in Sharon Springs for three years.
