Capital project vote recap, timeline |
Voters
approve capital project
District
residents turned out in miserable weather Feb. 12 to approve the
$17.3 million capital project by a vote of 185 to 124. The project
calls for construction a new bus garage; a number of educational,
safety, structural, and energy improvements at Harry Hoag Elementary
School; reconfiguring the traffic loop and parking at Harry Hoag;
construction a three-room addition at the junior /senior high
school; and replacement of the West Street steps.
If all goes as hoped, district officials are
looking at the following timeline for the project:
• Design: March, 2008 to October, 2008
• State Education Department Review: November, 2008 to March
2009
• Bidding: May, 2009
• Construction: June, 2009 – March, 2011
UPDATE - Since the end of March, district
officials have been meeting with the architects on each individual
component of the capital project. The design of each component has
begun as has discussion of site work with a landscape architect.
