Harry Hoag Elementary School students in grades
pre-kindergarten to six have been working to assemble health kits
that will be sent to the people of Haiti. Each kit contains a hand
towel, a washcloth, a comb, a nail file or fingernail clippers, a
bath-size bar of soap, a toothbrush, and six adhesive plastic strip
sterile bandages, and toothpaste. All items are new. The idea of the
health kit project is for young students to feel they can help
others in a difficult situation without having collect money. Among
the many students who helped are those in Tammy Angus' class. In
back are therapist Lori Fredericks, who organized the effort
school-wide, and Angus. The completed kits will be presented to the
Fort Plain United Methodist Church which will send them to the
United Methodist Church Committee on Relief. Haiti is the February
charity of the month at Harry Hoag Elementary School. Each month
staff members at Harry Hoag “dress down”on Fridays to support a
worthy cause.
