Two Fort Plain Jr. /Sr. High School cheerleaders
go to London for New Year’s parade
Two Fort Plain Jr. /Sr. High School
cheerleaders Anna Sweet and Elizabeth Hubbard were two of 500
cheerleaders from around the U.S. who performed in the London New
Year’s Day Parade this year.
They qualified for the week-long trip after
being selected as an all-American at a cheerleading camp during the
summer. It’s the 26th year where cheerleaders from the U.S. have
performed in the event.
The two seniors were a part of a dance team
called “Call Me Maybe,” named after a popular pop song. Not only did
they get to perform, but they also toured the country. During the
summer, the two held a can drive and garage sale to raise money for

“We got to meet a lot of people and do
something we can do once in a lifetime. We saw Stonehenge and rode
the tube,” said Elizabeth.
Anna said she learned a lot and met friends
from all over the U.S.
“It was just a great experience and we met so
many people,” she said.
