Message from the Superintendent, June 3, 2021
June 3, 2021
Dear Fort Plain School Community,
The District was alerted on May 21, 2021, that inappropriate contact may have occurred between a District Bus Aide and students on a bus. Upon receiving this information, the District immediately placed the employee on administrative leave and contacted local law enforcement. Throughout the duration of the investigation and for the foreseeable future, the District has taken steps to ensure this employee is not permitted on school property.
On June 3, 2021, the employee was arrested by the Gloversville Police Department.
Families with students on the identified bus have been contacted by the Fort Plain Central School District. If you were not contacted, then your child was not identified as riding the same bus as this employee.
As always, the safety and security of District students is our main priority. The District continues to cooperate with local law enforcement to ensure this matter is handled efficiently and appropriately.
As this matter involves students, please be aware the District is limited in the information we may release. Should any parent request further information with respect to this matter, you may contact me directly or reach out to the Gloversville Police Department or Montgomery County Sheriff at 518-853-5537.
The district is offering supportive services for students as needed through each school’s counseling department.
Sincerely,
John Bishop
Superintendent
